Die Gießerei-Sammlung des Krankenhauses St. Louis ist mit fast 5.000 Stücken die größte der Welt. Die Abgüsse wurden von 1865 bis 1958 von Jules Baretta und seinen Nachfolgern hergestellt. Auch wenn diese heute nicht mehr zu den Lehrmitteln der Dermatologie gehören, bleiben sie ein entscheidendes Element in der Geschichte der Medizin und der Darstellung des kranken Menschen sowie ein zu bewahrendes künstlerisches Erbe.

The Saint-Louis Hospital Museum’s moulding collection, with nearly 5,000 pieces, is the largest in the world. The casts were made from 1865 to 1958 by Jules Baretta and his successors. Although the latter are no longer part of the teaching aids of dermatology, they remain a determining element of the history of medicine and the representation of the sick man, as well as an artistic heritage to be preserved.

Los moldes fueron realizados de 1865 a 1958 por Jules Baretta y sus sucesores. Si bien estos últimos ya no forman parte de los materiales de enseñanza de la dermatología, siguen siendo un elemento determinante de la historia de la medicina y de la representación del hombre enfermo, así como un patrimonio artístico que hay que preservar.
