Das erste Krankenhaus der Stadt wurde im Jahr 542 gegründet, und die Gastfreundschaft entwickelte sich vor allem dank des Hôtel-Dieu und der Charité, zwei echten Institutionen, die der Pflege und dem Kampf gegen die Armut gewidmet waren. Die zahlreichen Gesundheitszentren in Lyon haben dazu beigetragen, die Infektionskrankheiten zu bekämpfen, die die Geschichte der Stadt geprägt haben.

How does the city react to the epidemics that hit it? Take part in this urban walk to discover the history of places and great figures that have enabled the advancement of medicine in Lyon.
The first hospital of the city was founded in 542, and the hospitality developed thanks to the Hôtel-Dieu and the Charité, true institutions dedicated to the care and fight against poverty. The many health facilities in Lyon have thus contributed to fighting infectious diseases that have marked the city’s history.
