In the 1950s, sailors brought American jazz and Latin music records to Cape Town. Inspired by these sounds, local musicians blended them with their traditional tunes—drawn from marching bands, church choirs, and animist traditions—giving rise to Cape Jazz. With its unique grooves and harmonies, this South African jazz has carved out a place of its own. Country Cooking celebrates this tradition by performing works by contemporary South African composers, arranged for brass band by Shama Milan. An irresistible mix that will have you dancing and smiling!

Dans les années 50, les marins ont importé au Cap des vinyles de jazz américain et de musiques latines. Les musiciens locaux, inspirés, ont mélangé ces sons à leurs airs traditionnels — hérités des fanfares, chorales d’église et traditions animistes — donnant naissance au Cape Jazz. Avec ses grooves et harmonies uniques, ce jazz sud-africain s’est taillé une place à part. Country Cooking célèbre cette tradition en jouant des œuvres de compositeurs sud-africains contemporains, arrangées pour brassband par Shama Milan. Un mélange irrésistible, à danser et à sourire !
