In 1657, the City Chamber(room) began(undertook) the plantation of a large path lined with trees (of "Tillotz": lindens) establishing(constituting) the walk leading Blanche to the fountain. Manhandled by the indelicate plowmen and the sheeps(muttons) eager for young shoots, they must be replaced in the course of next years. Between 1733 and 1736, side paths were crashed to enlarge walk. She(It) became fast the favorite walk of Langrois who(which) appreciated(estimated) its refreshing shades, its views(sights) on the valley of Bonnelle and the final enchantment of its fountain.

The walk originated from a line of trees offered by Sully to the city, in thanks for his loyalty to Henri IV. Extended, it was decorated in the eighteenth century with a nymphaea and a series of basins. This fountain was described by Denis Diderot, a native of Langres, who appreciated its position as a balcony on the landscape of the Bonnelle valley.
