The association Sauvegarde du Patrimoine de Joinville will make you discover the flamboyant Gothic style architecture of this chapel classified as historical monuments since 1909. The wooden choir enclosure and a 16th-century Ecce Homo will be presented, as well as polychrome stained glass windows presenting mainly the life of Saint Anne and the Virgin Mary. This chapel also contains several funerary monuments and epitaphs, from the 16th to the 19th century. Interesting point: the stained glass windows have the advantage of being at a height to easily admire them. Thematic visit «The windows of the chapel Sainte Anne, witnesses of the history of the costume» Saturday and Sunday, 15:30 (duration 45 min).

À propos du lieu

Chapelle Sainte-Anne
Rue de l'Égalité, 52300 Joinville
  • Haute-Marne
  • Grand Est
This chapel was built in 1504 by Gérard d' Allichamps, canon of collegiate Saint Laurent(Lawrence) of the medieval castle of Joinville, and by its mother, Guillemette Perraut. The nave possesses a single span separated from the chorus(choir) by a wooden closing, and ends by an apse in three pieces. The chapel is topped with an octagonal arrow and possesses a staircase with screw of Saint Giles hors-œuvre on the north side. Stained-glass windows are of the Trojan school (16th century) and show mainly the life of Saint-Anne and of the Virgin(Virgo). Some of these stained-glass windows are dedicated, of which the one by Henry de Lorraine, bishop of Metz.
