The farmhouses, one of the symbols of the villages of Bessin are restored to us in their unique style. There are no less than a dozen manor farms in the village. They all have the same characteristics: a courtyard surrounded by buildings necessary for the operation of the farm, a dwelling for the inhabitants, all forming a closed and defensive ensemble. These farms were built by rich farmers or small nobility between the 16th and 17th century.
Thus, the manor house of Cacharat is a typical 17th century manor house, built by a rich and Protestant peasant family (as attested by the tombs inside the estate). Although simple farm-manor, the buildings are imposing but richly decorated and harmonious.
The triple gate of the majestic 17th century consists of two pedestrian doors, one of which is blocked from its construction. The middle gate is the main entrance. All the gates are surmounted by imposing semi-circular pediments.
