Look up! Discovery of the Blue House and the Belfry of Dives-sur-Mer
BETWEEN ART BRUT AND INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE, BUT WHO PULLS THE STRINGS?
Organized by: CAUE du Calvados
This is a double visit waiting for your class! During the same outing, they will discover two very different heritage sites: an example of exceptional art brut in Normandy and its conservation constraints, then an industrial heritage rehabilitated in a cultural place and its contemporary extension. In half a group (or whole class if there are less than 15 students), they will meet the Blue House Da Costa and its mosaics that invest the whole garden. Their amazing story will be told by two mediators. How to save and protect this original heritage? Why not thanks to a large cover carried by a metal structure?... but this solution raises other conservation questions… At the Belfry of Dives sur Mer, your students will be welcomed by a mediator of the Hourglass, National Puppet Center. They will realize that we can transform an industrial heritage into a cultural place. They will also visit the extension of the building which unfolds in an incredibly contemporary massing occupying the entire footprint of the plot. It will also be an opportunity for students to glimpse the world of puppets! This rehabilitation and extension was awarded in the Culture and Leisure category of the Architecture and Development of Calvados 2024.
