This series of illustrations by Denis Renard presents a changing neighborhood: the peninsula of Caen, former port and industrial district. These drawings are a kind of testimony of a place that will radically change vocation. The vestiges of industrial activity will gradually disappear, and Denis Renard wanted to «fix» them as they were at a given time. The central element is the viaduct; a kind of spine, recognizable by all the inhabitants of Caen, which dominates the industrial wasteland of its concrete mass. As he strolled through the decrepit streets, Denis Renard was inspired by this hodgepodge of working business buildings alongside abandoned warehouses; modern walkways along old railway tracks… So many pages that turn.
