Conference: history of Fontaine-Étoupefour, from its origins to the present day
What a chance for the town of Fontaine-Étoupefour to count for a long time among its inhabitants André Nové, geographer and historian! Over the years, the latter has gathered a rich documentation on the history of the commune. This one, shaped and illustrated, with the contribution of Thierry Piot, is now available on the website of Fontaine-Etoupefour. In this fascinating story, the historical events known to all and their experience in the village, that, during 20 centuries and more: from ancient times (prehistory, Roman period), until the birth of the parish in the MiddleAge, its transformation in common with the Revolution, its evolution over the 19th century and the crossing of the 20th century with the two world wars. The focus is on the contemporary period, with the transition from a rural communal area to a peri-urban territory: development remains under control, with human-sized subdivisions and a dynamic associative life as well as on-site services that make daily life very pleasant.
