Understand by manipulating and manufacturing. What’s better? For each half-class, students will be able to participate in a workshop on wood, led by the guide Sophie Talansier-Northias, and in a workshop on wood, led by the guide Élisabeth Lachaume-Moutier, while the other part of the class will visit the castle of Crèvecoeur en Auge with the museum guides. Let’s go for a day full of learning!
The castle of Crèvecoeur built in the Middle Ages is surrounded by moats, which encircle and separate the courtyard and the high court. Between period architecture and reconstitutions (bread oven, potter’s oven, etc.), everything is done to be able to better understand past life, and help visitors to project themselves in time.

Established from the XIth century, the castle of Crévecoeur restores in a remarkable way what could be castles with clod in Middle Ages. Its organisation corresponds to a very frequent plan in time(period): An artificial clod, a High Court of Justice, surrounded with staves(moats) and surrounded(identified) with walls. the manorial home dating the XVth century have side of wall rises. The farmyard shelters from buildings(ships) in pan-de-bois entirely restored (the farm, the dovecote, the barn), devoted to craft(home-made) and agricultural activities during the Medieval. The stone chapel of the XIth century with its skeleton in opposite hull of boat as well as its Romance architecture is outstandingly kept(preserved).
