The Crous de Bordeaux-Aquitaine opens the doors of its chapel as part of the European Heritage and Matrimony Days. In association with Archimuse, we propose to welcome on Friday a school audience to make them discover the history of this monument unknown to the Bordeaux and Bordeaux and to focus on its stained glass windows currently being restored. We offer two concurrent half-class workshops for students in Cycle 3 of elementary school (CM1-CM2):

  • The secrets of stained glass windows (understanding their location in a church and their construction of the story),
  • The manufacture of stained glass (understand the techniques of manufacture and drawings).

À propos du lieu

Chapelle de l'ancien Grand Séminaire

The chapel of Crous, former Grand Séminaire de Bordeaux, has been listed as a Historic Monument since the summer of 2021\. The Capuchin quarter, a remarkable heritage site, derives its name from the installation of the congregation of these religious since the beginning of the 17th century on the present site of the Crous de Bordeaux-Aquitaine. The chapel, more recent, was built in 1875 by the Major Seminary of Bordeaux which succeeded the Capuchins and was very quickly, following the law of separation of Churches and State in 1905, attached to the public domain.
This chapel is one of the finest examples of Bordeaux’s neo-Gothic architecture. It is a screen for many cultural events and exhibitions, and offers guided tours and private events (student or school projects).
It is also part of the central services of Crous de Bordeaux-Aquitaine, where about 100 administrative staff, including the general management, work daily.
