LUMA Arles is proud to present In Search of… Incredible, a new exhibition by Sierra Leone-born, London-based poet, artist, and filmmaker Julianknxx, featuring a major new commission. Working across film, sound, and performance, the artist has developed a singular practice that brings poetry into dialogue with moving-image, creating works where memory is carried, spoken, and continually reshaped. His work explores the resonances of migration and diaspora, weaving intimate narratives with collective histories, and giving presence to voices and experiences often absent from dominant accounts.
At the center of the exhibition, the new commission unfolds as an immersive environment in which image, sound, and language converge. Here, belonging emerges as something fragile and active, formed through transmission, inheritance, and acts of remembrance. Julianknxx approaches storytelling as a space of encounter, where personal testimony becomes a way to reflect on broader questions of identity and continuity.

LUMA Arles présente In Search of… Incredible, une nouvelle exposition de Julianknxx, poète, artiste et cinéaste, né en Sierra Leone et installé à Londres, accompagnée d’une commande inédite. Travaillant à partir du film, du son et de la performance, Julianknxx a développé une pratique singulière qui fait dialoguer la poésie et l’image animée, créant des pièces où la mémoire est portée, énoncée et continuellement reformulée. Son travail s’intéresse aux résonances de la migration et de la diaspora, tissant des récits intimes à des histoires collectives, et donnant une présence à des voix et à des expériences trop souvent absentes des récits dominants.
Au centre de l’exposition, la nouvelle commande se déploie comme un environnement immersif où convergent image, son et langage. Le sentiment d’appartenance y apparaît comme quelque chose de fragile et d’actif à la fois, façonné par la transmission, l’héritage et les actes de mémoire. L’artiste aborde la narration comme un espace de rencontre, où le témoignage personnel devient le moyen de réfléchir à des questions plus larges d’identité et de continuité.
