Exhibition "Catherine Meurisse, la vie en dessin"
Illustrator, cartoonist, illustrator, painter, sce nariste, journalist, Catherine Meurisse is a prolific artist. In the line of Claire Bre dear to you, whose he ritage she claims, she has, like the latter, and like Riad Sattouf, seized the moving world. Sharpening her gaze and flair during 10 years of collaboration with Charlie Hebdo, she has also lent her pen to numerous press titles.
Catherine Meurisse has shown her love for art and literature in her work, an essential thread that will allow her to meet again after the tragedy of the attack on Charlie Hebdo in January 2015. Recently read at the Acade mie des Beaux-Arts, Catherine Meurisse was the first cartoonist to be named in the painting section, enabling the 9th art to enter the Institut de France. She is also the sponsor of BD 2020, the national year of the BD of the Ministry of Culture.
Initially conceived and exhibited at the Angoulême International Comic Strip Festival in February 2020, this new presentation at the Bpi is enriched with original and expe rimentations all centes, in a course and a modified layout, wishing to renew the dialogue between works.
Through a chronological route, a four-part structure, the exhibition Catherine Meurisse, life in drawing offers a panorama of the artist’s talents, from his childhood works to his latest artistic collaborations, highlighting his influences, his eye on society, his sense of re cit, his taste for elsewhere and his obsession with drawing.
Conceived with the help of Jean-Pierre Mercier and Anne-Claire Norot, curators of the exhibition of the Angoulême Festival, the exhibition will be accompanied by a rich program associated (meetings, conferences, workshops...).
In partnership with the Angoulême and Dargaud International Comic Festival
