INSTRUMENTAL MEETING #8 : An evening of music and stories. Beatrice and Florin Iordan
The ‘Instrumental Encounters’ are the result of a collaboration between MEG and the Ateliers d'ethnomusicologie (ADEM). During this musical event, musicians present their instruments and their repertoire.
Beatrice and Florin Iordan, founding members of Trei Parale - an emblematic group of the Romanian musical revival - are also museographers at the Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest, a key institution in the capital. They invite us to discover a collection of traditional instruments that were once widespread in the Romanian countryside and are now being rediscovered in urban environments. Their presentation highlights popular wind instruments - such as various flutes and bagpipes - as well as string instruments, in particular the cobză, a Romanian lute with a rich expressiveness.
This instrumental encounter is part of an ADEM tribute to ethnomusicologist Speranța Rădulescu. Romanian and Gypsy flavours. An art of celebration - 8 to 10 May.
