Both technically and metaphorically, alchemy and ceramics have always been closely related. But the practice of alchemy, which once aimed to transmute lead into gold, today calls into question the notions of success, wealth and the provenance of precious metals.
Bling-bling? It is this process of questioning, in the form of onomatopoeia evoking the sound of gold chains rubbing together, which was addressed by numerous artists in the context of the International Ceramics Competition of the City of Carouge. The works selected are brought together in this exhibition, which opens the doors to a radiant universe and approaches the subject in its critical dimension.

De manière technique et métaphorique, alchimie et céramique ont toujours été en étroite relation. Mais, la pratique de l’alchimie, qui visait autrefois la transmutation du plomb en or, questionne actuellement les notions de succès, de richesse et de provenance des matériaux précieux. Bling-Bling ? C’est sur cette interrogation, sous forme d’onomatopée évoquant le bruit créé par le choc des chaînes en or, que se sont penché·es de nombreux·ses artistes dans le cadre du concours international de céramique de la Ville de Carouge. Les pièces sélectionnées sont réunies dans une exposition qui ouvre les portes sur un univers éclatant et qui aborde le sujet dans sa dimension critique.
