In the framework of the temporary exhibition "Environmental Injustice - Indigenous People's Alternatives", which runs until 21 August 2022, the Sunday movie continues! Films addressing the climate emergency and the impact of environmental change on indigenous peoples and local communities will be screened in the Museum Auditorium throughout the exhibition.

In northern Niger, the village of Tatiste, a victim of global warming, is fighting for access to water. Every day, fourteen-year-old Houlaye, like other young people, walks for miles to fetch water, which is essential to the life of the village. This daily task prevents them, among other things, from attending school. The lack of water also forces the adults to leave their families each year to look for the resources necessary for their survival beyond the borders. Yet this region has an underground aquifer lake covering several thousand square kilometres. All it would take is one borehole to bring the coveted water to the centre of the village and give everyone a better life.

The fight against environmental degradation and the search for alternatives and solutions are at the heart of this film by Aissa Maïga, with images that are as strong visually as they are in meaning. These themes are also addressed in the temporary exhibition "Environmental Injustice - Indigenous People's Alternatives".
