The theme of International Museum Day 2022, "The Power of Museum", aims to highlight the role of museums in society and their potential to support positive social change.

MEG addresses this theme through the sharing of authority and power in documentation, interpretation and exhibition, through the process of decolonisation it has undertaken.

The temporary exhibition "Environmental Injustice - Indigenous Alternatives" was entirely co-constructed with indigenous experts and artists from around the world, in order to give them a voice in addressing the current environmental issues that concern us all.

During this day, Antiné Sonde, representative of the Fulani community in Burkina-Faso, will visit the exhibition through his indigenous perspective, as well as his experience at the UN as Senior Indigenous Fellow in the Minorities and Indigenous Peoples Section. A unique visit showing the links between the different indigenous peoples around the world and the common struggles they face on a daily basis.

Duration of the visit: 1 hour. The visit is free for the occasion.

Speaker:

Antiné Sonde, representative of the Peul people, Senior Indigenous Fellow, Minorities and Indigenous Peoples Section, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Moderator: Yannick Gilestro, cultural and scientific mediator at MEG.

The visit will be conducted in French.
