“La grande route” by Anton Chekhov, by the theatre company "Neo-Bachique". Directed by Gregorio Paz Iriarte.
The show «La Grande Route» offers a sensitive and philosophical crossing of Chekhov’s universe. By mixing his play in one act, “Sur la grande d'route” (1884), with excerpts from his short stories “La Fortune” and “Le Pipeau”, we witness the divagations of two shepherds in the depths of Russia, who come to interrupt the life of the inn of Tisha, welcoming pilgrims, drunkards and brigands who hang out on the high road, but also Savva, old pilgrim who, in his state of half-somnolence illuminated, thinks of his young youth.
"It’s dark... You can hear the wind moaning, as if he was crying... And we, poor lost souls, walk aimlessly on this great road" (Anton Chekhov)
Play played in the open air, in the grip of the creeping path, from the entrance to the site towards the church.
