Partner von Bernard Kouchner, Mitbegründer von _Ärzte ohne Grenzen_José Nicolas war 1982 in Libanon, 1984 in Kurdistan, 1987 in Afghanistan bei den «boat people» in der Chinesischen See ein unverzichtbarer Zeuge des Rechts auf Einmischung. Als Fotograf mit seiner Vergangenheit als Fallschirmspringer der Marine wollte er immer Krieg führen gegen Gleichgültigkeit, Schweigen, Vergessenheit, gegen die Menschen am Rande ihres Überlebens. «Companion of Bernard Kouchner, co-founder of Doctors Without Borders, José Nicolas was an essential witness to the right of interference in Lebanon in 1982, in Kurdistan in 1984, in Afghanistan in 1987, with the «boat people» in the China Sea in 1987. A photographer seasoned by his past as a paratrooper of marine infantry, he always wanted to make war on indifference, silence, oblivion, facing the populations on the verge of their survival. Compagno di Bernard Kouchner, co-fondatore di Medici senza frontiere, José Nicolas è stato un testimone fondamentale del diritto di ingerenza in Libano nel 1982, nel Kurdistan nel 1984, in Afghanistan nel 1987, presso i «boat people» nel Mare della Cina nel 1987. Fotografo esperto nel suo passato di paracadutista di fanteria di marina, ha sempre voluto fare la guerra all'indifferenza, al silenzio, all'oblio, di fronte alle popolazioni sull'orlo della loro sopravvivenza. Il flusso dei migranti che oggi raggiungono l'Europa, la moltiplicazione dei conflitti che imperversano nel nostro mondo, il deficit stridente di umanità, fanno delle immagini di José Nicolas il richiamo «dei momenti decisivi»

« Compagnon de Bernard Kouchner, co-fondateur de Médecins sans frontières, José Nicolas fût un témoin incontournable du droit d’ingérence au Liban en 1982, au Kurdistan en 1984, en Afghanistan en 1987, auprès des « boat people » en mer de Chine en 1987. Photographe aguerri par son passé de parachutiste d’infanterie de marine, il a toujours voulu faire la guerre à l’indifférence, au silence, à l’oubli, face aux populations au bord de leur survie.
Le flux des migrants qui atteignent aujourd’hui l’Europe, la multiplication des conflits qui sévissent dans notre monde, le déficit criant d’humanité, font des images de José Nicolas le rappel « des instants décisifs »

Fotógrafo aguerrido por su pasado de paracaidista de infantería de marina, siempre ha querido hacer la guerra contra la indiferencia, el silencio, el olvido, frente a las poblaciones al borde de su supervivencia. El flujo de migrantes que llegan hoy a Europa, la multiplicación de los conflictos que azotan nuestro mundo, el déficit clamoroso de humanidad, hacen de las imágenes de José Nicolás el recordatorio de «momentos decisivos»
