The time of the bridges. Four centuries of challenges in Bordeaux
Through this exhibition, the Archives of Bordeaux Metropole explore the history of all the bridges over the Garonne as well as the projects for Bordeaux, from their origins to the present day.
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the commissioning of the Pont de Pierre, a work of art described at the time as the "monument of the century", the Archives of Bordeaux Metropole explore the history of the crossing of the river from the 18th to the 21st century, from ferries and other naval houses to road bridge projects, either completed or left on the drawing board. From the Pont de Pierre to the Simone-Veil Bridge, including the Transporter Bridge, the Saint-Jean Bridge, the Aquitaine Bridge and the Chaban-Delmas Bridge: exceptional works of art, expressions of the modernity of their time.
Blueprints, drawings, models, films, posters, photographs (some of which have never been shown before) illustrate four centuries of this formidable human and technological adventure.
Tuesday 28.06.2022 > 19h - Inauguration and festive evening on the square with a proposal by Garluche, DJ set and open air projection.
